Bracketing fire is a method for artillery fire with gun batteries in which guns are divided into groups firing based on different range estimates within the same volley. This improves the chances of scoring a hit and allows the correct range to be found more quickly.

In Game TermsEdit

Gun battery slots with the triangle icon are capable of bracketing fire. Guns capable of bracketing fire which may hit the same section of the target ship may be grouped into salvoes. Each salvo uses the best crew roll, section roll and gun roll among the guns in the bracketing salvo. Only one crew die per crew slot in the section occupied by the guns firing the salvo may be used.
